Over 60 people take to the streets of Tuscaloosa, Alabama to participate in SantaCon 2012
Tuscaloosa, Alabama — Over 60 costumed people roamed the streets of Tuscaloosa and spread holiday cheer on Friday, December 14th. The 2012 edition of the annual SantaCon bar crawl took place, and it was a rousing success. Participants dressed up as Santa Claus or some other appropriate holiday character and took to the various bars of Tuscaloosa to celebrate and enjoy the event.
The festivities kicked off at The Downtown Pub as people gathered and planned the night ahead. After exiting the Pub, the annual group photo was taken and then it was off to the various other bars in town. A few members of the crawl, myself included, were tasked to go to the bars ahead and inform them of what was coming.
Places like The Grey Lady, Icon, The Alcove, Bo’s Bar, and Green Bar were visited by the roaming herd of holiday characters. Chad, the owner of the Alcove, welcomed the participants with complimentary beers on the patio. The Santas even took time to take photos with people on the streets of Tuscaloosa.
This year’s SantaCon made Egan’s Bar on The Strip the last stop of the night. All the Santas gathered to dance the night away and cap off another successful SantaCon. The stage was also set for what should be an even bigger event in 2013. If you’d like to see more photos from SantaCon 2012, please visit the full gallery by clicking on the gallery below.
