The Tuscaloosa Half Marathon is coming on March 2nd, 2013.
Distance runners in West Alabama need to get ready because a new race just for them is on the horizon. A 13.1 mile race, otherwise known as a half marathon is coming just in time for the spring.
A press conference was held today at Government Plaza to formally introduce the upcoming Tuscaloosa Half Marathon. The race will take place on Saturday, March 2nd, 2013. The race, which will start at Government Plaza and end at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater, will take runners through portions of the city still damaged from the April 27th tornado.
Representatives from the Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports Commission along with representatives from The Kiwanis Club of Greater Tuscaloosa and ReadBAMARead were on hand to discuss details of the upcoming race. Proceeds from the race will go to repair school libraries and playgrounds damaged by the tornado of April 27th, 2012.
