Druid City Brewing brings its bourbon vanilla porter to The Alcove International Tavern
Tuscaloosa, Alabama — Druid City Brewing took over the taps of The Alcove International Tavern on January 23rd with a special concoction serving as the draw. The Tuscaloosa based brewery brought its bourbon vanilla porter to the bar and the large crowd in attendance for the festivities.
Druid City Brewing co-owners Bo Hicks and Elliot Roberts were on hand to mingle with the patrons and answer questions about the special brew. Hicks and Roberts made sure two kegs of the beer were on hand based on how quickly other special batches had sold out as previous events.
When asked about the porter, Hicks colorfully described the beer as, “An intense English porter aged on vanilla beans and finished with the essence of bourbon. It’s like drinking a black velvet painting of Elvis.”
Noted beer connoisseur Barry Grass was also in attendance and gave his thoughts on the Druid City Brewing creation. “It tastes really creamy, yet the body isn’t viscous. It is impressive that is drinks lightly, and the alcohol is hidden.”
Grass also complimented the balance between the coffee and chocolate flavors with the present hint of bourbon.
Druid City Brewing will not be resting on its laurels and the success of this event. Roberts said they will be rolling out a large scale production of “Riverside Saison” in the coming weeks. Fans of the 8% A.B.V. Belgian style beer will be able to find it as most places that currently serve Druid City Brewing.
The brewery will also be selling its special “Ned Ryerson” rye beer at the Bama Theatre in Tuscaloosa during Well That Cool’s 20th anniversary showing of “Groundhog Day”.
