Iron City, Birmingham’s new concert venue, becomes a stop on the current tour from Band of Horses
Birmingham, Alabama — The latest tour from Seattle’s Band of Horses will take them to places such as Barcelona, Spain and Dachau, Germany. Before the band goes overseas, though they are playing a slew of dates for American audiences. Their stop in Birmingham, Alabama on April 30th was one of those dates. The band put on a lively set in front of a sold out crowd at Iron City, the new concert venue in the Magic City.
After an impressive and energetic performance by the Athens, Georgia based Futurebirds, it was time for Band of Horses close out the evening. Lead singer Ben Bridwell was the only band member on stage for the first song. Before he performed, he made a joke about the rest of the band being in Birmingham, England. The joke was a reference to a recent show the group had to cancel in Oxford, Mississippi because the equipment truck went to Oxford, North Carolina.
The crowd had nothing to worry about, though, as the rest of the members of Band of Horses soon took to the stage. The full group immediately began their charismatic performance that was well received by all those in attendance. Band of Horses are veteran performers, and it shows on stage. They execute a great deal of movement, emotion, and most importantly, connection with the audience.
If the crowd and the caliber of the act on stage are telling indications, Iron City will be a go to venue in Birmingham for some time. You can check out the venue’s future schedule by visiting http://ironcitybham.com/.
